2-wire transmitter

Model GD2A
This transmitter is a 2-wire no-voltage contact transmitter required for connecting a water meter to a pulse counter (model KDC-811/KDC-812), a centralized pulse reading panel, or a central monitoring panel.

Operation

The reed switch of model GD2A (2-wire transmitter) is operated by a magnet built into the hot water meter as shown in the figure below.

Caution

  1. The pulse width (time it is ON) depends on the flow rate.
  2. If the hot water meter stops when the reed switch is in the ON state, the reed switch will remain ON as long as there is no hot water flow. Similarly, if the hot water meter stops when the reed switch is in the OFF state, the reed switch will remain in the OFF state as long as there is no hot water flow.
  3. When a pulse relay model GT-ER2DM (manufactured by us) is used, the outgoing pulse of the meter can be output as a stable one-shot (approx. 0.1 second) no-voltage contact. Model GT-ER2DM is recommended for input to computers, data loggers, etc. (For details, refer to the specifications for model GT-ER2DM.)
Also, when inputting directly to a central monitoring panel, data logger, etc., make sure that the input specifications of the central monitoring panel or other equipment match the specifications of the above-mentioned transmitter unit.

Specification

Systematized Weighing Instrument Symbol

If the instrument has a pulse output function, a specific number is indicated after the "R" mark.
The leading "26" indicates the pulse signal system, which may vary depending on the manufacturer.
The second half "13" indicates the pulse rate, which is 1,000 L/P (1 m3/P).

Pulse Width (ON Time) at Maximum Flow Rate

  • ・Because the reed switch is operated by a magnet, the ON time of the pulse varies depending on the flow rate.
  • ・Therefore, the pulse ON time is shortest at the maximum flow rate, and its duration is as follows
  • ・In other words, under normal conditions of use, the ON time will be longer than this.

About Transmission Distance

The transmission distance when connecting the contact pulse output from the meter to the receiving instrument depends on the input specifications of the receiving instrument.

Please contact the manufacturer of the receiving instrument.
In the case of our receiving instrument
(Example) In case of connection to models KDC-811/KDC-812 → within 200m
・In case of connection to a pulse repeater model GT-ER2DM→within 3 km

Instantaneous flow rate

It is not possible to display and record the instantaneous flowrate by converting the contact pulse signal into an analog signal such as 4 to 20 mA, because the pulse unit for transmission is too large. In such cases, please use our electronic water meter.
